Process Management & Improvement

Summary

This course gives participants the skills, tools and templates to be a member of a process improvement initiative.  Sometimes referred to a yellow-belt training, participants will learn the tools and methods used by kaizen (aka continuous improvement) teams.

Course Details

Key Learning Objectives

  • The characteristics of an effective continuous improvement team based on ASQ’s criteria for the International team Excellence Award (ITEA). 
  • Learn and apply the PDCA and DMAIC roadmaps that Kaizen Teams follow
  • Learn and practice various tools used by Kaizen Teams, including:
    • Problem analysis and statement writing.
    • Process mapping using a swimlane flowchart, value stream mapping and SIPOC diagram.
    • 5-why and cause-effect root cause analysis.
    • 80/20 Pareto Chart.
    • Brainstorming using mand-maps and affinity diagrams.
    • Control chart fundamentals.
    • Customization: Other quality tools to fit your specific business needs
  • Solution development, verification and feasibility analysis (return on effort)
  • Solution implementation and verification of sustained improvement

Quality Engineers & Specialists, Operations Personnel, Work Area Supervisors and/or Team Leads, Admin & Office Personnel

Course Customizations

This course can be adapted to fit specific tools, methods, forms and terminology used by the client organization.  Additional time can be added for practice and application to specific company scenarios.

Maximum Class Size:

  • On-Site: 15 persons
  • Virtual: 10-12 persons

Class Duration: 16 Hours

  • On-Site: Two full day
  • Virtual: Four 4-hour sessions
